City Council Delays Action On Moratorium

The Springfield  City Council is putting a proposed moratorium on retail marijuana shops  on the shelf.

The council voted 7-to-6 on Monday to  refer the issue to a subcommittee.

Council President Orlando Ramos  still believes it will be necessary to have another moratorium, after a  previous freeze on marijuana sales ended last year.

Applications to the  state for retail licenses are expected to start being approved later  this year.
