Connecticut Man Charged With Massachusetts Child Abduction

A Connecticut man is facing charges accusing him of abducting and sexually assaulting a 12-year-old Webster girl in May. Police Chief Michael Shaw says Joshua Besaw of Thompson lured the child into his car at May Street Park.

Besaw then allegedly drove back into Connecticut and sexually assaulted her.

Investigators believe the attack was random, and say Besaw was linked to the case through DNA evidence.

Police say that it was through cigarette butts at the crime scene in a secluded area of Thompson, Connecticut that provided the FBI and local police with the break in the case they needed.

Besaw has already had his initial federal court appearance.

He is expected to be officially arraigned Friday in Hartford.
