Governor Charlie Baker is warning the threat of Eastern Equine Encephalitis is very real.
He says the state has been preparing to deal with a potential outbreak of the mosquito-borne ailment.
It's already been detected this season in Western Massachusetts, both in Franklin County, and the public is advised to take precautions against being bitten.
Triple E is rare but potentially fatal to people of all ages.
There were 12 human cases in the state last year including six deaths.
The Governor says the administration is filing legislation that would allow the state to treat hot spots for Triple E as a regional solution.
