Governor Says Changes Coming To Holyoke Soldiers Home

Governor Charlie Baker's office is announcing a vendor has been selected to start an expedited capital project at the Holyoke Soldiers' Home to provide significant upgrades.

Baker's office says the first phase will consist of a needs assessment and stakeholder engagement over a twelve-week period.

Baker says the planned upgrades will include immediate infection control solutions and longer-term improvements for the Soldiers' Home, which has seen 76 veteran deaths from the coronavirus this year.

The goal is to meet a federal Veterans' Affairs grant deadline next April.
