Orange Line Trains Pulled Amid Safety Issues

The MBTA has taken all of the new Orange Line trains out of service because of a battery failure.

This is the second time in the last six weeks that the new Orange Line cars, made by Chinese company CRRC and finished at their plant in Springfield, have been pulled from service because of a safety issue.

The T is still waiting on hundreds of Orange and Red line train cars that were initially ordered from CRRC in 2014.

Meantime, legislative leaders have promised an Oversight Committee hearing in the near future on the issue.
