The Ironman event is set to return to Springfield and several Western Massachusetts and Connecticut communities.
The 70-point-3-mile event, which takes place June 9th, is expected to bring more than one thousand athletes to the region.
The event begins with a one-point-two-mile swim in the Connecticut River, then a bike ride of 56 miles, followed by a 13-point-one-mile run.
Organizers have added additional towns for the race to run through.
Nearly 14 hundred competitors took part in last year's event.
